Blake's Thoughts: Don't Worry About the Small Things

  • My Memory Verse: Not worrying, being happy
  • My Prayer Request: Geo Test Jr Ministry Online Ministry
  • My Quotes: Life is like baseball, you know the pitcher is going to throw the ball at the batter! What you don't know is how the pitcher going to throw the ball!

Often times we take on more than we can handle hoping it won't interfear with family, friends, school and work. Even when we don't have that much on our plates, their is still the option of worrying to point of draining your energy. But hay, were all human and sometime things don't the way they plan and thats where we need to have an "In Case of Emergencey. open box" yes we need to have a plan B for backup just in case.

For example I found this crazy game of fishing for doughnuts with homemade fishing poles made from a tree branch. So I was planning to use the game for the JR Ministry night. . . than it happen I kept thinking about eating the doughnuts off the string and I kept wondering is it ok to eat a doughnut off the string your friend did? So instead of worrying about this crazy game I came up with plan B, a last minute backup! Because lest face it some people aren't crazy of germs or getting sick. . . kinda like using your friends spoon to eat your ice cream!!! So I still wanted to use doughnuts, the powered ones to make it messy, so I had the doughnut relay race. Two teams side by side, one person at a time runs, walks to the table and eats a powered doughnut off a napkin without using their hands! Boy that was fun to see and their was powered all over their faces. . . pack of doughnuts $2.50, wearing the doughnut powder on their face was priceless!!!

As you see in the end plans did change and we need to be ready with backup to correct the changes on the spot, lets face it things happen not planned and its ok!! Besides game A wasn't going to work so instead of worrying about what to do, how to still use or make it happen, which waste time and efforts when you worry about the small stuff!! There is a popular song "Don't worry Be Happy" and so we need to have that aditude were we sweat the small stuff and continue to be happy!!

Blake, Sounds like a lot of fun! And as far as worrying goes, I have always been a worrier. My mother said to me one day-"if you are worried pray, if you have prayed, don't worry". LOL Having a child with autism, I have learned to zig and zag and improvise quite a bit. Sounds like all worked out and now I am craving a donut! Not good for my diet you know-hehehe.
How old are the Jr. minstry kids? I would like to hear more about this.
Take care and God bless! Ann

Blake, You are so right about the pressures we adults forget about that middle school students have. I think Middle school is actually harder than high school in many ways. It is that mid point of finding who you are. And it is a time that is ripe for teasing. It is so nice to hear that they have you, a young adult role model that understands. Often, they don't think old folks like me remember what it is like! Keep doing what you are doing and I look forward to hearing more. Ann
