Advent 1: Prepare Our Hearts, Salvation is Near

Romans 13:11-14; Matthew 24:36-44

Introduction

The story of Christmas is more than the birth of our savior; it’s the real message of God’s gift to the world that He love so much.

Salvation is Near…

· We need to understand our salvation (Romans 13:11)

· We need to have preparation for our salvation (Romans 13:12)

We need to TAKE time to learn and study God’s gift

Prepare the Heart

· We need to replace our actions (Romans 11:13)

· We need to allow God to make changes (Romans 11:14)

We need to open the door, let God in (Let Love in by Goo Goo Dolls)

Closing

We don’t know when or where Jesus will appear, the Father knows… Just like unexpected visitors coming over to our home, we too don’t know, but we need to understand, need to prepare, and need to allow (accepted it) as it is… (Matthew 24:36-44)
