"There came a man who was sent from God: his name was john. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so thaty through him all men might believe. He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light." --John 1:6-8
Welcome to Journey of a Disciple, an online journal to see whats inside a Christian mind! Sit back, relax as you take the journey with Discipleship24-7.com webmaster, Blake; as he follows God's calling; teaching God's word across the web! No day by day detailed story, just Blake himself sharing the challenges as he follows Jesus everyday even when its not always easy in this world.
I like your layout, the text is easy to read, and you have some excellent content.
I was pretty shocked myself.
Have a great day!
It's true that in a world which doesn't stop running, we too get in a spin cycle of busyness. We forget the little details of the true meaning of rest. Let's be honest… we fill our schedule full, even our weekend to the point where we forget about our self; our own time of rest. Sure God was busy creating the world from the beginning to the end of every detail, but even God took the time to see the work he has done. Have you stopped and notice the work?
"By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work." (Genesis 2:2 NIV). Are you resting from the work you have done this week? Don't let a moment of rest make you feel guilty, we need to rest our body as well as our spirit.
Because when we push our self to the limit, Satan comes and uses that as advantage to mess up our life. Don't give Satan that chance… take a moment to stop and rest!
Last, finding rest is a commandment that God has given us "Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy" that clearly defines us to "not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter…" (Exodus 20:8, 10 NIV). So let us come to the father in body, spirit and heart and rest!
You know that there is a saying “its Friday, it can’t be all that bad.” Just when Friday comes and really nothing goes just the way it should… we stop and realize its Friday and it’s all good! But can we really handle life’s challenges when nothing seems to be going right?
But just maybe our boss, our parents and God is testing our abilities to see how we actually handle the challenge when given. Sometimes we say one thing but our actions speak differently when challenged! Just like when Jesus challenges Peter’s faith “come to me” walk on water as Jesus himself was doing… but Peter lack the faith! His action did speak differently than what he would have spoken!
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God” (2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NIV) God is in control of these so called “life’s challenges” that seem to happen again and again. But let us forget the past, leave it behind, give our worries to God and pray. After all God has never let us down all he ask if we just have some faith. “…But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. He delivered us from such deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us” (2 Corinthians 1:9-10 NIV).
Are you ready to place your hope and faith in God today? Let us come to the Father who gives us His all, His love, His compassion, and His comfort to those who truly seek Him!
What if we were working at our current job for several years and during this time we get a offer for something new and different…. Would you rake this unknown offer? How would this affect you and your family…? Would this one part of your life make an impact..? In the book of Luke we see when Jesus calls his first disciples… picking them to go with them and follow, while asking them to leave everything behind!!
Truly this one even would make an impact in our lives… we don’t know what’s ahead or what plans have been made for us! Just like if you were laid off or in transition to receiving a promotion it would be hard just to give up what we currently have and walk away completely…! Even Simon Peter fell at Jesus’ feet in humble confession telling Jesus that he himself isn’t worthy of being a disciple… Sometimes I think that we too may ask are we really worthy of taking on this job promotion or this new job career when that same opportunity knocks at our feet…
But it’s hard to see beyond ourselves and what gifts and talents that lies beneath our skin…. And Jesus saw this in these men on the shore, including Simon Peter “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will catch men” (Luke 5:10). Just like your boss he too see’s a leader/supervisor in you and tells you that you can fulfill this job description. In the end they “left everything and followed him” (Luke 5:11). Are you willing to take on this new job description??
Can we truly plan ahead for the journey that lies before us? This summer I am planning a camping trip… I have been camping before; have all the gear and tools need for the trip, so am I really ready?
Just like a missionary, they too plan and pack their bags for the trip that they too don’t know what lies ahead… but they still go without thinking or looking back what they are leaving behind. We need to have that spirit like many of the missionaries have… if God has called you to step out of your comfort zone to follow Him. We many have that unknown before us, but all we can do is prepare our bags, mind, spirit and heart as we can but also give our worries to God before we head out on the road.
Father give us guidance, strength as we take the first step and walk on this road that leads me to the unknown, I know that you have prepared the way and mission for already…. But I need your hand with me in this journey, AMEN
How to be a Christian
The following video was posted by Gluhhh on YouTube.com
Last Wednesday our youth was studying a devotion of how God reveals Himself, prayers and plans He has for us in special way…. Think about I have taken on a BIG landscape project at my home, three trees and a lot of clay soil with many rocks making dig a problem! I have an empty backdrop and I plan to decorate the bare space with plants… I have a plan but could I reveal it all at once to finish the project or just reveal it gradually??
In Mark 8:22-25 Jesus did heal the man who was blind, but He chooses to heal him differently than we think… Jesus could have healed him instantly but Jesus heals the man gradually over a period of steps to avoid overload.
Just like the healing process of the man, I too an working on the landscape project over a period of time to prevent myself from overloading, sure some things can be done in a day… but it best to have a master plan and break it down to gradually work over a time to avoid overloading. Sometime we get so busy in life that we needed to be reminded to take the time and work in one specific area and the rest will fall into place. Look how God answers prayer… sometimes instantly but other time its gradually over a period of time… after all its according to HIS will not ours!
True Worship is a moment in the our busy life to come before God to praise Him. We come just as our self to give our praise and our love towards God, for His provion, answers and preperation. The Act of true worship comes from our heart through prayer and through the words we sing from the mouth and in spirit.
True WORSHIP comes from the heart --John 4:23-24
We are to come together as a family, as body of Christ to in worship, not just of individuals but as a church family in unity! We come with a heart of fellowship towards sharing the passion, the moment of worship with all who come before Him with a true heart.
True WORSHIP comes from the heart --John 4:23-24
We worship with a open mind and heart of joy with thanksgiving for God himself has given us His one and only son to take our place for the sins we have commited.

It’s hard to see God’s master plans for us… but we can pray for God’s hand and guidance, love and support in following His direction that He laid out before us. We should have pride in our mission that God has placed upon our hearts united as a body of one. We just need to put our own wants, ideas aside to serve in the body of Christ.
One example that reminds me of taking what’s given to you without really knowing or planning nor idea of is Mike Rowe, Dirty Jobs. Mike personally tackles those dirty jobs that push his mental and physical limits towards braking point. In the end he does the job with pride and respect for the workers that do that job everyday of their lives, while Mike just had one day to taste it.

Opportunity is a chance to use our gifts to follow God's will He has for us. God has already given us this free gift of salvation by taking our place on the cross... This is to invest and grow for His glory and of His kingdom.
Life's trials becomes OPPORTUNITY --Philippians 1:12-14
We need to be ready to embrace these moments of opportunity that quickly come in life but can also quickly disappear. So when one comes @ the door we need to pray and seek God's will to act on this opportunity. Some can be a blessing, while others can be a spiritual battle from Satan himself.
Life's trials become OPPORTUNITY --Philippians 1:12-14
God Himself presents life full of trials to have them become an opportunity for us to grow in our relationship with God. We all have had "bad days" but maybe God is trying to teach us a message, so we can seek His will and learn on our own in this chance that we call opportunity.
This summer we will begin this “journey” and learn how to walk in the foot steps of God by shining our light. What does it mean to “walk in the light”? How can we know for sure that we are truly “walking in the Light”? Are you ready to take this next step of faith?
Our first step is through prayer… this Thursday is National Day of Prayer; many will unite and gather together and pray. You can pray for God to open our hearts, our minds and make His will be known to ALL, on the earth. We need to put our wants and needs aside and seek His will as we take the first step and follow His steps and become that light. We need to put on the armor of God and carry the shield of faith as we walk this journey. Your not alone, many are wondering, many are seeking and many are hidden in this darken world. One coal can shine a flicker of light in darkness, but a pile of coal can take that same flicker of light and shine into the darkness making it become light.
